Pat Mahony was born in 1951 in Los Angeles California and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in 1973.

Her work hovers between abstraction and representation.  Saturated tones,  lush abstraction and a brevity of brush strokes suggest an absence of wasted motion.

Her work emphasizes color, composition and drama.  Mahony's subject matter ranges from urban scenes, river landscapes, and still life to figures.  Recently Mahony has been making bronze sculptures
inspired by the human form.  The new collection of work is titled "Animus" invoking the Latin term for soul or spirit.  This work can be seen on the website

Mahony's work has been collected by numerous corporations, private parties and museums across the United States.
